Noon rush »

It's great fun talking to the players. This morning we had the BSU offense and the TCU defense, the big matchup everyone is longing for. I will have some articles in the paper tomorrow about the matchup and some other stuff on here later tonight. Right now we are headed to the last open practice.

Day One »

You gotta love this stuff, early morning (7 a.m.) wakeup calls, interviews and warm weather. Just ask my mom how much I like to wake up in the morning! Forgive me for saying this, I heard ya'll got pounded with snow today, but it's actually kind of chilly in Arizona, like 45 degrees and overcast. It's weird, but I'm wearing a jacket. We met with [...]

Breakfast conversation »

Our first interviews are at 8:30 this morning, so this beast of slumber is up and moving before the sun swoops in over the mountains. We have the TCU offense and the BSU defense today. This is the matchup that could really spell disaster for the teams. Is the BSU defense really good enough to halt the Horned Frog throng? Can it repeat last year's [...]

Pursuit »

To play in a game, the team must show up. To cover the big pretty thing, the press must too. Hence, I sit in Salt Lake City, waiting for a connection, admiring the soft-dropping snow. I am wearing a really old, tattered hat that can barely boast its original orange. Still, strangers stop me in line at Starbucks and ask me when we play, as if my [...]

What? »

The fumbled snap set the Aggies up to score, but boy does the result anger me. I'm not upset at all because the shutout is gone and done, or that the Broncos fumbled away another snap. No, I'm upset because at the end of that drive, DeWayne Walker let his second string quarterback sneak it in from a foot out, when he should have given the ball to [...]

Seth Smith »

The kid got to 1,000 yards on a 5-yard run here in the fourth quarter. I get the feeling NMSU has been running out the clock all season. Smith has more than 30 carries today, with a decent average. His line just isn't big enough or strong enough to overpower BSU. Nothing worked today for the Aggies. They have 36 passing yards, 150 rushing yards. [...]

Oops! »

Jarvis Hodge is having a pretty good game in mop-up time, running hard, had a 39-yard scamper, but he just also fumbled the ball about 10 yards high in the air and Jeff Finau recovered for NMSU.

End Third »

This is pretty much a wrap. BSU is cycling reserve players in and out. The only big questions left are the final score and Seth Smith's yardage total. He needs two yards to get 1,000. Some final numbers for Kellen Moore: 19-for-30, 272 yards, TD, 0 INT. He finished the season with 39 TDs and 3 picks. That ratio is just nasty.

Instant Offense »

Just hand it off to Doug Martin. Michael Coughlin replaced Kellen Moore at quarterback and Martin ran 56 yards off right tackle to make it 42-0. He broke free and broke a tackle, got a block from Burroughs and scored. That's his fourth touchdown of the game, his second 4-TD game this season.

Defense »

Every time the BSU defense has been tested, it has answered. The Aggies missed a field goal, got picked off, fumbled and now they were stopped on downs. They have completely abandoned the passing game resigned to running out the clock. Because of that, BSU is keying on the run and Seth Smith is closing in on 100 yards rushing in the game, 1,000 on [...]
