Oops!
Post Published: 05 December 2009Jarvis Hodge is having a pretty good game in mop-up time, running hard, had a 39-yard scamper, but he just also fumbled the ball about 10 yards high in the air and Jeff Finau recovered for NMSU.
End Third
Post Published: 05 December 2009This is pretty much a wrap. BSU is cycling reserve players in and out. The only big questions left are the final score and Seth Smith’s yardage total. He needs two yards to get 1,000.
Some final numbers for Kellen Moore: 19-for-30, 272 yards, TD, 0 INT. He finished the season with 39 TDs and 3 picks. That ratio is just nasty.
Instant Offense
Post Published: 05 December 2009Just hand it off to Doug Martin. Michael Coughlin replaced Kellen Moore at quarterback and Martin ran 56 yards off right tackle to make it 42-0. He broke free and broke a tackle, got a block from Burroughs and scored. That’s his fourth touchdown of the game, his second 4-TD game this season.
Defense
Post Published: 05 December 2009Every time the BSU defense has been tested, it has answered. The Aggies missed a field goal, got picked off, fumbled and now they were stopped on downs. They have completely abandoned the passing game resigned to running out the clock. Because of that, BSU is keying on the run and Seth Smith is closing in on 100 yards rushing in the game, 1,000 on the season. He needs 17 yards to get there.
On the board again
Post Published: 05 December 2009BSU picked up in the second half where they left off in the third, driving deliberately down the field (big screen play to Mitch Burroughs, 32 yards) and Martin scored his third touchdown of the game, a 2-yard dash untouched off the left side. The downfield blocking has been superb for BSU. Martin’s touchdown was so easy because fullback Dan Paul sealed the edge with a block on the linebacker. It’s 35-0.
2-Minute Drill
Post Published: 05 December 2009Kellen Moore just executed a perfect 2-minute drill. He took his team 95 yards in 1:50 and it took 12 plays. That’s nine seconds per play. Just sick. He had passes of 13, 18, 12, 4 (a fourth down conversion pass to Kyle Efaw) and 20 yards (a screen to Jeremy Avery. Avery’s reception set up another 4-yard Doug Martin touchdown run to the right side, untouched.
Fleming just got replaced by Trevor Walls at quarterback, to take a knee and end the half for NMSU. Halftime score: BSU 28, NMSU 0.
Fleming Fumbles
Post Published: 05 December 2009The Aggies actually put together a decent drive, all the way down to the BSU 5-yard line, but Jeff Fleming was stripped on the read option right by Jeron Johnson. J.C. Percy recovered the fumble and Fleming hurt his leg on the play. He may be done.
Flair
Post Published: 05 December 2009The play: Kellen Moore throws swing pass to Mitch Burroughs, who throws it back to Moore on the left side of the field and Moore hits Kyle Efaw on a 16-yard pass. Kellen could have ran for 20, maybe (he’s a little slow).
Then: Jeremy Avery at quarterback in the “Wild Horse” he runs left and holds the ball way out for a reverse hand-off to backup quarterback Michael Coughlin, but Avery just faked it to pick up an easy 11 yards.
Then: On the goalline Doug Martin shows his muscle, powering through the defense behind the lead block of defensive tackle Micheal Atkinson.
I bet Chris Petersen just had a blast drawing up the game plan this week.
Reverse!
Post Published: 05 December 2009The sluggish first quarter led to an electric start to the second. The Broncos got great field position on a horrible Aggies punt and scored in four plays. They ran a reverse with receiver Chris Potter at quarterback, who handed off to Doug Martin, who handed off to Jeremy Avery going right nine yards for the score. 14-0 BSU.
Titus Young
Post Published: 05 December 2009Who said Kellen Moore can’t throw the long ball? He just dropped a bomb over Davon House into the welcome arms of Titus Young. The play is being reviewed. It was initially a 47-yard touchdown, but Young may have stepped out at the 3-yard line. After further review? The call stands. 7-0 BSU.
